The Impersonal Life was written in around 1914 by Joseph S. Benner (published as 'Anonymous' at the time). It is a self-help book based broadly on Biblical teaching, but can be used by anyone of any faith. It is arguably a little 'gnostic' in presentation. Elvis Presley credited his success to this book. It is described by Amazon below:
'A Manual of Spiritual Teaching and Discipline. THE IMPERSONAL LIFE is the book that Elvis "had been looking for all his life." Why? Because as ALL Elvis biographers tell us, it spoke to him in such a clear understanding voice. It was so dear to Elvis that he began sharing it with the world by giving copies away by the case. It was ground zero for his self-explorationa and spiritual awareness. Here, Elvis found food for his soul, and he devoured it. We aptly call this the Graceland Edition of The Impersonal life "The Little Book in which Elvis Found the Light." Students of spirituality continue to find it so.'
The Kybalion was written in 1908 by William Walter Atkinson under the Nom de Plume 'The Three Initiates'. It describes the basic principles of Hermetic philosophy (not religion) which underlie much of NLP and modern Personal Development theory and technique.
Charles F. Haanel wrote The Master Key System and published in 1914. It is the most famous early book on the law of attraction. Charles F. Haanel was a successful businessman, a psychotherapist, a 32nd degree mason in the Keystone Lodge, a Shriner (Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine), and a member of the Society of Rosicrucians, a esoteric and occult order first documented in the 17th Century and probably dating back to the 14th Century. He originally released the book as a series of 24 weekly installments, the course priced at a huge $1500 per head. The MKS book, and other books by Charles F. Haanel, in pdf format, can be viewed at the link below:

Unlock Reality (UR) is an e-book that is only available over the internet. It is essentially a summary of Gnostic approach to Christianity, combining Christianity with elements of Buddhism, reinterpreting and rewriting the teachings of Jesus. It is packaged as something new and totally unique. The concept is all about becoming one's own personal 'God' or a part of 'God' and about co-operation and sharing; and incorporating concepts of the Law of Attraction as described by The Secret. A rather critical review of the book can be found at the third link below. I have yet to read this book but will comment further once I have done so. Binaural Beat Technology for Brain Wave Entrainment and Brain Synchronisation:

Binaural beats with ambient sound/music:

Insight & Focus are products by Immrama Institute, also distributed by Mercola. There are no additional levels and all is contained on 2 CDs each.

Quantum Mind Power Program with TMM (The Morry Method) created by Morry Zelcovitch:

Center for Neuroacoustic Research, founded by Dr Jeffrey D. Thompson, D.C., features a number of services including sound therapy and also offers a variety of CD programs including pulsed beats (e.g. Brainwave Suite), non-brain synchronisation sound CDs (e.g. Delta Sleep System, Delta Sleep Solution etc.) and a number of primordial sounds CDs based on sounds from space (with a degree of phase shifting presumably to shift the 'sounds' into the audible range.)

Perfect Meditation is a 13 level meditation CD set. It uses Tibetan Buddhist sounds in the foreground such as Ohm sound, chants, and singing bowls, which are said to enhance the meditation and serve a 'spiritual' development purpose too:

LifeFlow Meditation 2.0 by Project Meditation is a 10 level meditation programme using one frequency per track rather than mixing multiple frequencies as in other products. The reputedly cutting edge technology uses Binaural Beats as well as Isochronic and Monaural Beats. Each track (one track per CD) is a dedicated frequency, and is listened to for 1-2 months before moving onto the next CD. One starts at CD 10 and works one's way down to CD 1. The progression is from Alpha down to Delta. There are no 'tones' but just natural sounds etc. One can either purchase all 10 Audio CDs (expensive) or buy the mp3 files on a monthly or bimonthly basis, one at a time (possbily ripping each one to CD for non-computer or mp3 player use). There is no difference in audio quality between the two formats in this case. Project Meditation also offer a free meditation course on their web site.

Optamind Meditation - offer 3 products Optamind Awakening Meditation (Beta, Alpha, Theta & Delta), Gamma Meditation and Study Buddy. Each is contained on one CD and there are no additional levels.

Binaural-Beats are suppliers of a variety of meditation CDs, but there is the binaural beats are very much in the foreground and can sound like one's head is in a washing machine, and I found they grated on his nerves after a while - akin to a form of torture. I have however heard glowing reports from other users.

Hemi-Sync is a range of binaural beat CDs by Monroe Products, incorporating binaural beats over musical or sound backgrounds (probably the most interesting of all music/sound backgrounds of the above). Mp3 demos are available under each product.

Ultra Meditation offer a number of different multi-level meditation programmes using the Mind Tek technology (based on binaural beats), including Ultra Meditation Meditation Training (5 level CD set), and and X-mind (extreme) which are single CDs. They also offer binaural beats programmes in conjunction with affirmations, for example, the demo file below which uses their Brain Supercharger technology (a simplified version of the Brain Supercharger CDs audio).

Brain Evolution System by inspire is a multi-level binaural beats based meditation programme, with a free trial.

Life Mastery Guilds offer a variety of binaural beats programmes including Meditation Mastery.

Binaural beats with ambient sound/music and also Affirmations/Subliminal Messages/Guided Meditation:

Holosync by Centerpointe Research Institute. Awakening Prologue is the first part of the programme, with subsequent parts using your actual voice recordings to create custom affirmation in subsequent CDs for you. There are 13 levels in total:

Sonic Access is a guided meditation programme that uses Holosync technology and Paraliminal technology (affirmations).

Hypnosis-and-Health offer self-hypnosis CDs to trigger meditative states using sounds that correspond to various brain wave frequencies.

Brainwaves offer a variety of guided meditations and pure sound mp3s for a variety of goals. One includes the Extra Energy mp3 which is based on an 18Hz frequency, which was trialled (the frequency not Extra Energy) on CFS sufferers in 1998.

Audio-Visual Brain Wave Entrainment Aids (AVS):

MindSpa by A/V Stim LLC is a mind machine (incorporating binaural beats and LED goggles). It contains 2 sets of goggles, one blue light pair (for use in deep relaxation or before going to bed) and one white light pair, the latter for use whilst involved in other activities (have transparent centres of each lens - those who wear glasses would have to use contact lenses with them). Contains 15 preset simulation programmes and 3 preset deep relaxation programmes. Up to 50 additional programmes can be downloaded from the AVStim web site. Recommended by Dr Richard Bandler.
David Siever of Mind Alive Inc. offers a range of David branded AVS mind machines, including the PAL range. The PAL36 comes in two models, the standard PAL36 and the PAL36 with Cranio-Electro Stimulation (CES) - . It contains 30 preset programmes. The googles are white LEDs with blue tints. There is research to suggest that CES can be helpful in improving depression and sleep disorders. A David Session Editor (windows-based) is available as an additional cost option.

Laxman Light and Sound Mind Machine Innertainment System - a German made system using a pair of goggles that can be used with open or closed eyes. It is a multi-programme device generating binaural beats along with ambient sound tracks. It can also be used as an mp3 player. It also comes with LaxEdit session editing software.

Procyon Audio Visual Synthesizer (AVS) by MindPlace is a mind machine (incorporating binaural beats and LED goggles). The goggles have LEDs of 3 different colours, and each coloured LED has 255 different levels of brightness, so many colour combinations are possible. The device comes with 50 preset programmes. Frequencies possible: 0.1 - 75.0 Hz. Auxiliary input for external audio input to 'mix' with binaural beats. A (basic) PC interface only for customisable sessions (will work on a Mac if you have Parallels Virtual Machine or similar and a copy of Windows). Proteus is the cheaper version with red LED goggles only (probably not so suitable for evening use and deep relaxation use.)

AV3X is a psychedelic meditation DVD 'movie' that uses pulsating flashes set to images, natural sounds and ambient music (not binaural beats). i.e. relying on pulsating flashes on your TV screen for the actual brain entrainment with the audio 'score' serving no brainwave entrainment purpose. The demo works best in full screen mode in a dark room, so that one can actually see the flashing properly. offers a sound file download or CD of the 'NASA Sound of the Sun exposed to water'. This is a sound file that is supposed to harmonically energise water so that it mimmicks water that has absorbed the sun's rays and energy signature. The concept was developed by David Sereda and Saida Medvedeva. It sounds similar in some respects to BioPro Technology's I-Water/I-H2O which uses sound waves to ionise/alkalise water. This is not strictly speaking brainwave entrainment, but more akin to Solfeggio tones.

Binaural Beats Tone Generation Software:

BrainWave Generator is a freeware Windows-based Binaural Beats generator program can be downloaded at the link below.

The Transparent Corporation currently offers three brainwave entrainment products, Mind WorkStation, The Neuro-Programmer 2, and Mind Stereo.

Other Brainwave Entrainment Technology:

Neuroliminal Training (by Dr Philip Bate, PhD) uses similar principles to EEG Biofeedback testing but uses taped waveforms to adjust the amplitude of certain brain waves. It is claimed to help insomnia, depression, autism, ADD and ADHD and is currently being trialled on CFS patients (in combination with Biofeedback testing).
